Basic Tajweed is a course offered for learners at the very basic Level I. This includes The Arabic alphabet, its characteristics, and the simple rules with general understanding and practice.
There are about 20 to 25 lessons which are covered in this simple course. The kids are taught this basic Tajweed course in an applied way using the traditional Qaida or Quran Foundation Course. The following key concepts are discussed:
- Pronunciation of the Arabic alphabet with the proper points of origin.
- The different sounds and characteristics of the letters i.e. being bold and being whistling.
- The signs of the letters which are used to produce different sounds of the alphabet.
- Letters of Madd and Leen ( Long vowels and Soft letters)
- The silent sign ( Sukoon or Jazam)
- Rules of Noon Sakinah and Tanween
- Rules of Meem Sakinah
- Rules of the letter Raa
- Rules of the letter Laam in the word of Allah S.W.T
- Rules of Waqf ( The proper way of pausing and stopping)
Basic Tajweed covers the above-mentioned concepts and simple Tajweed rules which are taught with little detail and with the applied approach for Tajweed classes for adults. But for the kids as mentioned, it is taught with an applied approach without explaining the detailed rules. After the course, the student can read by himself/herself and can be fluent soon with 4-7 months depending on the level of understanding and the number of days given to cover the course as per schedule. This is a very simple and easy course that enables a non-Arab to read the Holy Quran with Tajweed In-Shaa-Allah.
